With Gratitude
The main purpose of this website is to publish the thousands of documents that the Transcription Team have been producing since 2020.
During Covid, a group of volunteers began transcribing documents, letters, diaries and newspapers from museums around the Northern Rivers, NSW.
Alongside this, the digitisation project was also underway to scan and digitally restore old photographs and catalog them accurately to preserve the historic knowledge.
This invaluable information about the history of the region needs to be disseminated for researchers and family historians.
This work was then extended to include TROVE and the volunteers were tasked with researching individual families, ships and other topics. This work is ongoing under the auspice of Ballina District Historical Society and Museum at Pimlico. This website is dedicated to all those involved.

The Richmond River flows through the Bundjalung Nation. This land was never ceded and has a rich and ongoing story from generations past. For a full and insightful description I would encourage you to read Bundjalung Jugun Bundajalung Country by Jennifer Hoff.
