The Agricultural Ball held at the Maroney Theatre was the social event of the year. The decoration of the hall was a work of art – the food was wonderful – my mother made the trifles – there was a two course supper – chicken, ham, the works, followed by trifle and fruit salad – the tickets were 5 shillings each and people thought that was too expensive! If the night was cold they would start the dance with a polka to warm everybody up. Barbara S.
